Powering on the Sound Equipment

Powering on the Amplifier

To power on the sound system, one will need to turn on the system's amplifier. The amplifier is kept off when not in use to reduce heat generation and power consumption. To power on the unit, first open up the doors on the bottom half of the teacher's computer lectern. Inside, there is a rack with several pieces of sound equipment, as shown below.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THE SOUND SETTINGS AND/OR ADJUSTING KNOBS, AS VERY LOUD SOUND FEEDBACK OR IRREPARABLE DAMAGE MAY RESULT!

Locate the Ashly KLR 3200 amplifier located on the very bottom of the rack. An image showing what the amplifier looks like is below.

The power rocker switch is on the right side of the unit. To power on the unit, press up on the rocker switch, as outlined in red. The power indicator LED will turn blue, as illustrated in the below picture.

Powering on the Microphones

There are two microphones in room 231. One is the Shure SLX 2 Handheld microphone and the other is the Shure SLX 1 Lapel microphone. Both have been tuned to provide ample volume.

PLEASE NOTE THAT LAPEL MICROPHONES INHERENTLY ARE MORE PRONE TO FEEDBACK AND THUS IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE HANDHELD MICROPHONE BE USED WHENEVER POSSIBLE. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE MICROHPONES NEAR THE SPEAKERS IN THE ROOM, AS THAT WILL CAUSE FEEDBACK IF THE MICROPHONE IS USED TOO CLOSELY TO A SPEAKER.
